MMHG lived experience engagement objectives:
Elevate the voices of people with lived experience in the organisation
We recognise that listening to, involving and partnering with people with lived experience of mental health issues is critical to creating person-centred initiatives and an inclusive organisational culture.
Build leadership and workforce capacity in co-participation.
We are committed to creating an organisational culture that supports consumer and carer engagement and participation and builds the capacity of our lived experience workforce.
Achieve better outcomes for individuals
We know that engaging people who are most directly affected by mental health services, policies, programs and research is essential to delivering programs and developing research trials that are more responsive and relevant to people’s diverse needs.
Create an organisation that reflects a diverse range of perspectives
We value input from a diverse range of voices and recognise that one voice will not represent all voices. We want to create partnerships and engage in meaningful conversations with people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse life experiences.
How we are achieving these objectives:
- We welcome and value feedback from individuals who use MMHG services. Feedback is obtained through multiple methods including individual interviews, surveys and focus groups and this feedback is used for service delivery improvement.
- We have established a consumer working group to guide our consumer participation strategy and ensure that we are involving and collaborating with consumers in and about all aspects of the organisation
- We are in the process of establishing a consumer advisory board to collaborate in service development and design.
- We conduct consumer focus groups to consult on individual projects.
Opportunities to become involved in these projects and partnerships will also be posted on our social media pages as they arise. Involvement in all our consumer partnership strategies will be reimbursed and you will gain valuable experience working to improve mental health treatment services and research design.
