Both Dr Ted Cassidy and Geoffrey were guests of Jacinta Tynan on Skynews to answer questions about TMS therapy.
TMS is included in the current Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of mood disorders. It has been available in Australia for 10 years but has been available primarily during hospital admission.
Dr Ted Cassidy co-founded TMS Clinics Australia to make TMS accessible to more Australians, in a convenient and safe outpatient setting that would offer standardised and evidence-based protocols. According to Dr Cassidy, “Patients can achieve great outcomes, with none of the side effects associated with antidepressants”.
Dr Cassidy is joined by Geoffrey, a TMS Clinics Australia patient who has suffered from depression most of his life. Geoffrey had tried many medications before being referred for TMS therapy.
