Monarch Mental Health Group offer our Consultant Psychiatrists and Locums an opportunity to expand their expertise to include innovative technological and pharmacological treatments for depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and associated mental health comorbidities.

(Initial 6-week contract – longer-term opportunities available post 6-week term)

TMS Clinics Australia (TMSCA), a division of Monarch Mental Health Group, are leaders in the delivery of evidence-based repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment.

Our mission is to ensure that access to standardised, high-quality rTMS treatment is available to all patients who may benefit. We have the largest network of clinics in Australia delivering state-of-the-art therapy in an outpatient setting and we pride ourselves on our collaborative care approach - operating as part of a multidisciplinary team led by our psychiatrists.

About the role

The role of the Locum is to undertake initial assessments, conduct resting motor threshold (RMT) sessions and prescribe rTMS at various clinics across our network (metro and regional opportunities available). Training on rTMS and TMSCA-specific protocols is provided to successful candidates.

As part of the Monarch Mental Health Group, our specialists provide assessment services and tailor treatment to the individual needs of the patient. Our specialist team is able to access innovative neurostimulation, digital-based, and novel pharmacological treatments. Training across treatment modalities including psychedelic-assisted therapy and esketamine-based treatment are provided.

Our psychiatrists are supported by our Medical Advisory Committee, chaired by Professor Paul Fitzgerald and our national Medical Director, and are provided with ongoing professional development, monthly peer reviews and annual conferences.

TMSCA psychiatrists are also invited to lead peer-to-peer activities and educational activities for GPs and psychologists from time to time. We also support psychiatrists who wish to be part of research.

To be eligible, applicants must have:

  • High interest in innovative treatments for depression, anxiety, PTSD and associated mental health comorbidities
  • A desire to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Current, unconditional AHPRA registration
  • Unrestricted Medicare Provider number
  • Experience or willingness to participate in telehealth assessments (Sessional roles only)
  • COVID-vaccinated
